I help highly sensitive children manage their BIG emotions! Children and teens who are struggling with stress, fear, sadness, anxiety, depression and feel out of control are ones who need a strong relationship with a safe adult the most and that person can be ME!

Does your child need someone to talk to? Someone they can trust? Does your child have a lot of intense emotions and extreme behaviors at home or in school? Does your child have an IEP or 504 plan at school and needs some extra support or strategies to help them be successful? Do you as parents feel fed up and out of ideas to support your child? Does your child need someone to love/care for them AND tell them the straightforward hard truth? If so, I might be a good fit for you!

I love building relationships with children and teens who need someone to listen, help problems solve and validate their feelings. I also love working with those who can handle and accept the hard truth as I can be very blunt during individual sessions at times. If you need someone to call your kid out on their behaviors, I can be that person! AND, a strong relationship will always come first.

My practice foundation is built on creating a safe space for children who have anxiety, depression, trauma and I believe that a whole systems family approach is the best way to see progress. I also believe that you can be great at accessing your coping skills the more you practice them and once it’s a habit, your child will succeed! As long as you and your child believe in me as your licensed mental health practitioner then we will have a great working relationship!

I am 5’1 with a 6’0 personality! I am very energetic, sometimes a little loud and have a big heart! I work very hard to build strong relationships with my kids and teens so that my clients enjoy working with me. My clients are excited to see me because they feel connected to me, they feel like I can relate to them and they appreciate my honest feedback. I have a sense of humor and love to goof off. I am highly motivated to help both parents and the kids achieve their goals and will do anything I can to keep my kids engaged in sessions through hands-on activities, talk therapy and DBT based interventions.

I am a part time therapist at Thompson Child Therapy and work full time through Frederick County Public Schools as a licensed therapist. I work at a local high school working with teenagers. I do enjoy all age groups and have worked at the elementary level in the past however, I do enjoy the teens the most! I have experience working in a school setting and know how IEP’s and 504’s work in the school system and am familiar with special education laws and process. If your child is struggling in school, I am one who has seen that first hand for about 4 years now being in the public school system. Prior to that, I worked in a residential treatment center through Sheppard Pratt where I also worked in the school setting and the residential unit with middle schoolers and high schoolers. I started there in 2012 after graduating from WVU (GO MOUNTAINEERS!) with my undergraduate degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish/communications. Unfortunately, I am not fluent in Spanish, wish I was! That’s another goal of mine.  I started my masters at Salisbury University in 2013 and finished in 2016 with my masters in social work. I have been working as a licensed therapist for four years now.

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-C), I am also a certified school social worker (C-SSW) and trained in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) where I focus a lot on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness. I am also trained and certified in trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). I have experience with children who have complex trauma, multiple health diagnoses, severe interpersonal problems, aggression , emotion dysregulation, suicidal/risky behaviors, and low self-esteem.

I love being outdoors, spending time with my family, attending church and practicing my faith. I also love to travel and see new places. After work, I can be found with my family dogs, on a long run, cooking or at the family beach house!
