Is your child or teen engaging in extreme or inappropriate behaviors that don’t make sense? Does it sometimes feel like you’re raising a lion cub in a family of house cats? Do you wish that you could help your child cope with their BIG reactions to the world around them (and inside them), but feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked?

If you are yelling ‘yes, that’s me!’ at your screen right now, then I might be a good fit for you and your family.

My practice foundation is built on creating a safe space to address a variety of issues from anxiety and depression to complex trauma and sexually inappropriate behavior. I believe improving the family system as a whole is an important part of improving a child’s ability to cope and extinguish undesired behaviors.

My personality is goofy, energetic, creative and focused on keeping kids and teens engaged and excited about therapy. My clients enjoy working with me because I am realistic about the difficulties families experience in daily life, I give direct and honest feedback, and I am highly motivated to help kids, teens, and parents achieve our agreed-upon goals. I also appreciate feedback from clients, especially on my eye-rolling ‘dad jokes!’

I am a certified provider of Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and certified in treating problematic sexual behavior in children and teens (CSOTP). I also utilize Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and DBT Prolonged Exposure (DBT-PE) interventions in addition to TF-CBT, all of which are proven to be effective and grounded in current research. As a clinician I value thorough case conceptualization, assessment and accurate diagnosis, and utilizing evidence-based interventions tailored to your family’s goals.

I have been working in mental health care since 2011, after I graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and Journalism. I decided to pursue my Master’s in Social Work after working ‘in the trenches’ for several years at a residential treatment center for teens and earned my MSW from The University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2016.

I have been working as a Licensed therapist for the past three years both as a residential/inpatient provider for high needs teen clients and as an outpatient therapist. I have experience working with complex trauma in children and adolescents, problematic sexual behavior, suicidal/risky behaviors, severe interpersonal problems, aggression and emotional dysregulation in children, teens and young adults.

Like most millennials I enjoy yoga and brunch, and my clients learn quickly that I’m a devoted cat mom so you can usually find me cuddling my two boys, Stanley and Oliver. I come from a family of foodies so I like to experiment with all different kinds of cooking and baking challenges, making sure to utilize all of my relaxation skills in the process!
