My young adult needs individual therapy, do you offer that?
Yes! Reach out to us via the form above to determine what is the best fit for your young adult.
Won’t my young adult just pick up more unhealthy behaviors by meeting along with others who are struggling?
These groups are *not* an opportunity for people to learn unhealthy behaviors from each other. We help our clients speak up about what they want to do differently without embellishing their current ineffective decisions to gain popularity in the group. Clients must be motivated to do something different, which is why we require an initial assessment to determine it’s a good fit.
What is DBT?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a research-backed treatment curriculum for people with BIG emotions who make risky decisions. It is especially helpful for young adults who engage in unhealthy behaviors that risk their safety. To receive the full model of DBT treatment, your young adult must be individual therapy with a DBT-therapist and receive coaching in between sessions (typically via phone or text). This is necessary for young adults who are actively trying to kill themselves or harm others. We offer both levels of treatment here.
Why is the group co-ed?
We don’t want to prohibit people learning these skills based on gender. All young adults struggle with these challenges and making it a gender-specific problem feeds into the thought that there’s something wrong with them, when we believe your young adult just doesn’t have the skills yet. Also, we’re skilled at the challenge of helping all genders feel validated.
